The rapid development of e-commerce has brought about significant changes in consumer behavior, with delivery timeliness and accuracy becoming critical factors in customer satisfaction. This research focuses on comparing the logistics performance between purchasing agent platforms and traditional e-commerce shopping platforms, analyzing their strengths and weaknesses in terms of delivery efficiency and accuracy.
To assess the logistics performance, we selected five purchasing agent platforms and five traditional e-commerce platforms across different regions. Data was collected on delivery times, accuracy rates, and customer satisfaction ratings over a span of three months. We also conducted surveys with customers and interviewed logistics managers to gain insights into operational challenges and strategies.
Purchasing agent platforms generally exhibited slower delivery times compared to e-commerce shopping platforms. On average, purchasing agent platforms took 7-10 days for international deliveries, while e-commerce platforms delivered domestically within 3-5 days. However, purchasing agent platforms often provided more detailed tracking information, which enhanced customer trust despite the longer wait times.
Both types of platforms showed high accuracy rates, with e-commerce platforms achieving a 95% accuracy rate and purchasing agent platforms slightly lower at 90%. The discrepancies in purchasing agent platforms were mainly due to customs clearance issues and mismanaged inventories, whereas e-commerce platforms faced fewer such challenges due to localized warehouses.
Despite longer delivery times, purchasing agent platforms received higher customer satisfaction ratings in terms of product authenticity and uniqueness. E-commerce platforms scored better on delivery speed and convenience, but customers reported concerns about counterfeit products in some cases.
The findings suggest that purchasing agent platforms and e-commerce shopping platforms serve different customer needs. Purchasing agent platforms cater to niche markets with unique or international products, while e-commerce platforms excel in providing fast and reliable delivery for common goods. Both types of platforms can benefit from improving their logistics strategies to enhance overall customer experience.
This study highlights the importance of balancing delivery timeliness and accuracy with customer expectations. E-commerce platforms should focus on maintaining high accuracy rates and speeding up deliveries, while purchasing agent platforms could improve their logistical efficiency by partnering with reliable international carriers and optimizing inventory management. Future research could explore the impact of emerging technologies like AI and blockchain on logistics performance.
